Artist statement

Avi Kiansky is an artist working between painting, relief, and object-based practices. His work explores the relationship between material, light, and perception, often through the use of gold as an active surface rather than a symbolic element.

His works appear as compressed forms or residual traces, situated between image and object. Drawing on references to myth, ancient systems, and archetypal structures, Kiansky approaches these themes through material processes such as deposition, compression, and transfer, rather than direct representation.

The resulting pieces function as perceptual fields that receive and redistribute light, subtly influencing the space in which they are encountered. What emerges is a body of work that suggests objects as remnants of unknown systems: fragments that no longer fully reveal their original function, yet remain active in their presence.
